It’s actually a matter of – “whats the point?” – something so simple, yet possibly the cause of a huge accident, death and families hurt.
The person assisting me wants a whole bunch of details, as apposed to just informing somebody and getting them to come around. Eventually I stop her from blabbering about all useless stuff and tell her to get someone there while I wait on the line to hear the call go out over the radio.
After the call has gone out, I’m told, “they actually just drove past and it appeared that the vehicle was dropping somebody off” – so this was already count 1 of cops seen these people and the vehicle half in the road but, as per usual, “lets just ignore it”
While I wait I watch. All 4 people (driver included) are outside the car, dancing at my lights shining on their car, amstels in their hands and constantly opening the boot of the car, walking around etc. This is just the perfect recipe for someone driving down the road and smashing right into them or, knocking one of the drunkets over.
After a few minutes 2 officers arrive in a white Mazda midge with no license place or blue lights, just some faded hazards blinking away. Amstels in all their hands, car in the middle of the road, who knows what was said but 3 of them leave the car and walk towards one of the complexes that they were parked next to, the cops get back in their car and pull away followed by the red vehicle that drives slightly forward and turns into the next drive way. Already over the hill, I approach the cops and I’m asked to pull over. We stop outside the plumbing place (tap something I think)
I ask, “what on earth was going on there, you there for 2 minutes and just leave, they parked half in the road, they all drinking and you just leave them?” – “Yes sir, I could smell the drivers breathe and he wasn’t drinking” – YEAH RIGHT?! “are you trying to tell us how to do our job?” “where you there, why didn’t you get out of your car and come look?” (yes, unarmed and not aware of the situation I should just approach and play supervisor?) – “sir, we can only act after a warning has been issued” – my immediate reply to that was, “oh, so the first time you drove past was not a good enough sign to see SOMETHING is wrong?!” At this point, the snotty cop kept quiet and his assistant started replying with even more silly comments to quickly get out of this one. – anyways, I’ll leave you to make up your own mind. I’ve MANY a time reported things in this area, and have a story to tell on each and every single outcome, this time, I’ll start writing about it each and every time.
Clearly, I wasted my time and I also said this to these two cops. The reply, “no sir, you did not and we appreciate you reporting it” followed by them just getting back into their car and driving away. – To those two cops, Thanks for wasting MY time and leaving a total drunket still on the road” – Perhaps you would have done something about it should someone you know have smashed into the car, and been badly hurt – Death before Prevention – right? “Crime Prevention se gat”
