Namaqualand Biltong Parklands Sucks

I needed a few odds and ends and decided to stop by Spar in Parklands. On my way out, I noticed the temping dry sasuage hanging in a what seems to be, well preseved and hygenic glass cabinate closest to the entrance. However, I see nobody inside.
As I look around to try figure out if this is a free for all shop or what, I catch the glimpse of a biggish elderly guy with white hair, standing outside to the right of the entrance. I only noticed him based on the furious look I got as to “why you looking inside my shop” (obviously my intension was to buy something) So, I don’t enter but continue looking around, and still, this dude keeps checking me out. Eventually I decided alright, let’s face this.
I walk up to him asking “Hello, are you involved at the biltong shop” – My reply is started by a huge exhale of smoke which of course, the wind blows my way. The reply, “yes” Me: “well okay, do you have some good dry sasuage” Him: Yes. So I walk back to the shop, waiting for mr biltong to arrive. I ask for R30.00s worth.
Obviously through his hours of experience, he whips out a piece asking “is this alright?” but wait, just with his bare hands. What?! So let’s figure this out:
- Nobody in the store at the time
- A non-helpful stare as to why am I looking inside the shop
- I need to do the walking over, outside, in the hope that he is the person working there
- I’m greeted by a shit load of smoke in my face
- I’m handed my piece of dry sasuage with his bare hands which YES, he was just smoking with. So there you go, a true smoked-dry-sasuage piece Just for me.
To top it off, mr experience was SO good at knowing his R30.00 piece weight in at EXACTLY that, I’m told, “uhhhh R30.00″ as he stares at the scale which unlike most other shops, does not face you. What a random ripoff. To top it off, it was horrible! It left such a fatty taste in my mouth that I chucked it out to the dogs.
Anyways, There you go. Again, all together now:Â Namaqualand Biltong Parklands Sucks.
However, there is hope. I’m unsure of the name but there is a butchery in Monte Vista, it’s in a shopping complex that has a bar next to it with a fantastic cow looking thing on the outside of it. It’s just off the main road that runs through Monte Vista. This place is the best, I think it’s family owned and let me tell you – from service, to quality to quantity – they take the cake. If the biltong aint the best at the time, you get told! Big up guys.
I agree the service sucks also in some stores in that complex. But i must say Parklands Spar’s service “Good”. My husband is disable and we struggled to open the “so called security entrance” at spar Parklands. The manager opened the “so called security entrance” to the store for my husband. Parklands spars serives is good and i always shop there. That biltong shop wil not see me at all. Come to think of it i think they closed down…

On the contrary !
We have purchased biltong products, Namely Beef which i must add is totally succulent and well priced in comparison to local biltong shops in the area.
With regard to the service rendered we only found the elderly gentleman who normally serves us to be well informed and very friendly.
The means of biltong products displayed are done so in a very clean and hygienic manner and i must add, a very upmarket shopping experience all round.
A definite recommendation !

Nothing better to do, other than find fault in pointing out the splinter in an others eye, but failing in seeing the plank in their own.
Well let me add that we found the biltong to be the best we have encountered in the Cape Peninsula in a long time and to add that the droe – wors we bought was not fatty at all.
Definitely a recommendation !
Do not be drawn in by what you read from malicious tongues, when we all know that common sense prevails and we all know that the proof is in the pudding.
( In this case the Biltong )
So try it for yourself, you will see what i mean, or should i say taste what i mean.

My own experience of this biltong shop, was always a pleasant one. The service has always been excellent and the staff very friendly.
As for the product, you’ll go a long way to find better.
As being a shop owner myself, I know the difficulty in satisfying every customer. To try the impossible is absolute madness!
To the critics, do you think you can do better?
To the owner: we think you do a excellent job. Keep up the good work, because we know you’ve got the best product at the best price on offer !
I speak of experience,because I used to be a biltongmaker myself. Some of us do like a bit of fat in the dry sausage…. and as a fact they do sell real wood smoked sausage at Namaqualand biltong !
I LOVE namaqualand biltong… and the sevice is very friendly.
i actually like namaqualand biltong…from what i’ve experinced their service is friendly and many people have different tastes in biltong and they dont just have one type but a variety and to whoever wrote that note: you suck because you couldnt have the decency to tell the person that was serving you face to face about the biltong so to me that makes you a coward…
I’ve tasted a lot of different biltong … and my choice is definately NAMAQUALAND BILTONG. The best quality for your money and a good taste.

If you have a problem with the service, why don’t you talk to the owner.
Why is it that we South Africans always break one another down? Is it realy so hard to understand that we have to build this country , and not break it down.
As for the product that you are complaning about:
It might not be your taste, but others might like a bit of fat in the dried sasuage. I am sure that if you went back to the biltong shop and talk to them they would have sorted out your problem.
I know for a fact that they are good poeple, and they will do their best to make you happy.
I also know that they stock a veriety of biltong products which I think is excellent.

hi I think the gentleman complaining was actually the same person who came into the store and ranted and had a very bad attitude because they never got the shop as their own business.
I think its more a case of sour grapes leaving a bad taste than the wors.

Great biltong i am in fact munching as we speak or should i say as i am typing this message.
You would go a long way to finding a better biltong locally around Cape Town, i used to by all my Biltong at Canal Walk biltong shop’s, needless to say, nowhere in the class of Namaqualand Biltong.

Well done on THE BILTONG AND DROE-WORS REALLY IS TO DIE FOR, I have certainly found my future supplier, as for the layout you get a 10 out 10 for professionalism.
Secondly, to the initial critic!
I agree with the comments as to your K.A.K attitude, your probably very frustrated with life as a whole and by the sound of it and do not know biltong from bulltong, so my recommendation is “GET A LIFE”.
Thirdly to the public !
If you have not already tried and tested for yourself you are certainly are missing out on the best biltong in the Cape has had around in a long time.

I am not aware of the poor service levels of Namaqualand Biltong but can strongly suggest that you try Famous Kalahari Biltong in West Coast Village in Parklands. This shop is my first choice for quality biltong and good service.
Namaqualand biltong is to die for and the service is great, certainly recommended.
We have tasted the best so forget the rest, they certainly provide the best !

Having recently shopped at Spar Parklands we decided to try out the much hyped about bitong shop called Namaqualand Biltong.
Well let me be the one to add, their Biltong is divine to say the least, as for the service 10 out of 10.
Living in Melkbos and have supported the local biltong shop @ the Pick & Pay Centre over the years, our preference has now drastically changed, Namaqualad Biltong has certainly now become our supplier of choice and is well worth the drive from Melkbos.
Not even does Westcoast Village, biltong shop fare in comparison.
Come on Guy’s we need on of your shop’s in our area !

I used to buy my Namaqualand biltong at the pick ‘n pay family store, Tableview (Namaqualand shop inside) and was totally upset when they closed down and were replaced by… whatever biltong place. I don’t even want to know the name of the place as I want NOTHING other than Namaqualand biltong.
If there is ANYONE out there that can tell me where their shops are now, i’m heading straight over. I have a bet on with someone at work that I can get the BEST biltong in the whole world, and I don’t know where to find them.
My mother will also rejoice as her birthday and mother’s day presents just aren’t the same without a kilo or two of Namaqualand biltong.

Biltong and braai in Mossel bay has got some issus, ok biltong but Not hygenic at all. Bare hands that come strate out of the till. Hope the owner clears it up.. Then he always shouts at the staff while there would be customers in the shop. Just not good for it. Please clean it up,use gloves and wash you hands

THERE BILTONG REALLY IS GREAT TO SAY THE LEAST !
We buy in a huge amount of biltong for our corporate funtions and after the feedback from our clients, the responce was rather amusing.

i am sorry to say that i agree with the initial complaint. when we entered the store the lady behind the counter was rude and abrupt like she was doing us this huge favour just by helping us and to top it off the wors and biltong were swarmed with flies. the biltong shop in bayside next to checkers has far superior product.
I have tasted Namaqualand Biltong only once. I have also bought from Boesmandland and both products are average. I am a local from Melkbosstrand and I sought out a company called Kleynbegin. If you are really interested in a top quality product, that is realy tasty, you should give Kleynbegin’s Biltong and Droë Wors a try. They offer personal service and also free delivery. If there is a product that is realy outstanding, it is there Droë Wors and Chili Stix. And for at least R60 per kg cheaper than Boesmanland on all there products, it makes it even more worth while. Why dont you look then up and give it a try. You will not be sorry at all – like they say – LOCAL IS LEKKA.
I must agree with Andre re: famous kalahari biltong shop @ Westcoast Village…………….the best by far.
i must admit, that every time i go to the namaqualand biltong shop at the Spar centre, the woman who is usually there is quite unpleasant. And the prices are way more than West coast village shop.
my son loves the peri peri biltong from the Namaqualand so i am having to pop in there just for that and fortunately not for the service

To say the least Namaqualand Biltong is vragtig the best biltong we have tasted and i must add, the other comments regarding other biltong shops around should stock Namaqualand Biltong.
Theirs has been tasted by me and family and needless to say they have missed the boat when it comes to quality biltong.
Go to Fruit and veg they sell biltong cheep cheep / Taste the soapy taste, go to the others mentioned and taste for yourself.
Ja Nee, you do not know biltong until you have tasted Namaqualand biltong.
Now to all the negative biltong professionals that run down Namaqualand Biltong /////// GET A LIFE !
