Frontal system heading for Cape Town

After two days of rain, the Weather Office says another frontal system heading for Cape Town is expected by Monday.

On Friday city municipal workers and disaster management members cleared away the aftermath of rock falls and mudslides left behind from the cold front that hit the Western Cape on Friday.

The city’s Disaster and Risk Management team and local authorities have been placed on full alert after receiving warnings of severe weather for the long weekend.

Wilfred Solomons of Disaster Management said large quantities of rocks and mud were removed from Quarry Road near Glencairn, Boyes Drive in Muizenberg and Slangkop Road in Kommetjie.

It hardly ever rains in a city, which is meant to experience a lot of rain, you would imagine that they would have measures in place for the few occurances!
