Blaauwberg corner from hell to get attention
0 Comments Published March 29th, 2007 in General News. Tags: No Tags. It’s about bloody time! Have a read over this:
THERE may be light at the end of the tunnel for motorists who regard the Bayside turn-off at the Blaauwberg Road intersection in Table View as the corner from hell. But, then again, it may be a very long tunnel.
Minibus-taxis have long since appropriated this corner for themselves, despite the fact that this “terminal†has no legal status of any description. The current permits issued to the taxi operators only allow them to drop off or pick up passengers at this point.
Not only do the taxis permanently occupy the left-hand traffic lane as if it were a formal taxi rank, they actively obstruct and interfere with the bus service in the area, making it very difficult for busses to dis?embark their passengers there.
The fact that the left-hand lane of Blaauwberg Road is not an official taxi terminal also means that there are no toilet facilities for the waiting drivers and commuters, resulting in unsanitary practices that pose a health risk to the community.
