Veteran Cape Town long distance swimmer Theodore Yach is gearing up for his 50th swim from Robben Island across icy Table Bay to Bloubergstrand, which could place him in the Guinness Book of Records.Yach, chairman of the Cape Town Central City Improvement District, said that since his first swim in November 1981 his goal had been to complete 50 crossings before his 50th birthday in January 2008.
Joining him on the 8km “Golden 50th” will be some teammates from the Maccabi waterpolo club. Most have not attempted the crossing before.
