100 to compete in Robben Island swim
1 Comment Published March 31st, 2007 in General. Tags: No Tags.Hundreds of long-distance swimmers are expected to brave the cold Atlantic Ocean when they compete for one of the biggest purses in a local open water swimming event.
Top long-distance swimmers, including Natalie du Toit, will swim from Robben Island to Bloubergstrand in Cape Town on April 27, in what is considered one of the most challenging swims in the world.
The event, which is in its sixth year, originally began as an annual fundraiser by Vista Nova School, the largest school for children with learning disabilities and cerebral palsy, but has since attracted interest from around the world.
I am one of the hundred that have entered for the first time and I am a tad nervous. It just seems so daunting.
